Setting up two-factor authentication

Updated April 10, 2026 3 min read

Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security by requiring a one-time code in addition to your password when signing in.

Enable 2FA

  1. Go to Settings → Security → Two-factor authentication.
  2. Click Set up authenticator app.
  3. Scan the QR code with an app like Google Authenticator, Authy, or 1Password.
  4. Enter the 6-digit code from your app to confirm setup.

2FA applies immediately. You'll be prompted for a code each time you sign in from a new device.

Save backup codes

After enabling 2FA, we'll give you 8 one-time backup codes. Store these somewhere safe — you can use one to sign in if you lose access to your authenticator app.

Each backup code can only be used once. Regenerate them from Settings → Security if you run out.

Disable 2FA

Go to Settings → Security → Two-factor authentication and click Disable. You'll need to enter your current password to confirm. We recommend keeping 2FA enabled at all times.
